The neocortex, also referred to as the association cortex, more developed in humans than in dogs, is specialized in learning the regularities in the environment (Norman & O’Reilly, 2003). It identifies similarities between events and makes it possible to generalize. So once we’ve learned how to drive one car, we can quickly adjust and drive different cars.

 

A dog’s failure to perform is often seen as the dog’s deliberate choice to not comply. In reality, it means a dog doesn’t know the behavior to the extent you believe he does. That’s a training problem; the training wasn’t consistent enough, the behavior wasn’t generalized and taught to fluency.

About us

We’re Viktorija & Ramūnas, the co-founders of Wiglo. We left our advertising jobs in 2020 to start something meaningful. What began as a side-hustle quickly turned into a full-time adventure that brings us more joy and fulfillment than any 9-to-5 job ever could.

For our generation, pets are family. Many people still use outdated and aversive training methods, often due to a lack of awareness. We saw a need for a modern tool to make dog parenting easier and more fun.

Overcoming obstacles to build Wiglo

July

Ramūnas knew firsthand how ruff separation anxiety is. Neither of us had formal dog training expertise, so we partnered with a certified trainer to create a course to tackle SA and turned it into a sellable PDF. And just like that, Wiglo (then The Dog Explained) was born.

2021

February

Got an investment offer from a private business angel, but we declined. We thought we knew what it takes... haha, oh, how naive!

August

After the success of the separation anxiety course, we created over 10 training programs for common problematic behaviors and rebranded to Wiglo. Better product, easier sales? Nope! Nobody was buying it! What is going on?!

December

No money, no Christmas gifts this year. We applied to Y Combinator and… got declined. Keep it cool. Keep it cool. We’re not delusional (right?).

2022

January

Phew... Sales are finally coming in! It took half a year to find a profitable way to advertise our renewed product.

March

New subscribers aren’t flooding in, but the graph is steadily growing. We pat ourselves on the back and keep going.

August

Plot twist! We (Viktorija & Ramūnas) broke up as a couple but stayed business partners. We decided to keep working on Wiglo together as if it were our baby—neither of us wanted to abandon it.

After dealing with the buckets of tears from the breakup and friendzoning each other, it was time to turn up the notch with the business. The concept of a brand-new Wiglo app for dog parenting was born.

Started a contract with a senior UX designer to put our app ideas on paper (or Figma, to be realistic). Oh yeah, we’re getting there!

2024

March

Hey designer, where are you? He disappeared halfway through the job. But Viktorija was like, “I’ve got this!” (She is a skilled art director and graphic designer but had never worked on Figma or app design before).

May

Hundreds of hours spent designing the app, user testing the prototype with dog parents, fixing the design, testing again, and fixing again—it was finally time to put it out for the public. The development team started executing the app for Google Play and Apple stores.

New chapter: Wiglo app is live on Apple and Google Play stores. First downloads incoming, champagne is popping!

 I purchased my Wiglo Premium subscription via Google Play and I want a refund. What can I do?

If you purchased your Wiglo Premium subscription through the mobile app via Google Play, you will need to contact Google Play Support to request a potential refund.

In the meantime, please follow the steps below on your Android device to disable the auto-renew feature for your Wiglo subscription:


1. Open the Google Play Store app.
2. Tap Menu.
3. Tap "Account" and then "Subscriptions".
4. Tap the Wiglo app.
5. Tap "Manage", then "Cancel Subscription" and confirm cancellation.
